Position Summary:

The Engineer will be responsible for planning and conducting work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard accepted methods.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering methods and techniques on work of small projects or on portions of larger projects.
  • Work with client to develop or interpret project scopes, schedules and budgets.
  • Interface with project stakeholders.
  • Produce specifications.
  • Lead, coach, mentor designers and junior engineers.
  • Produce project review, bid and construction package deliverables.
  • Lead projects from initial request through delivery.
  • Assist with qualifying and hiring additional qualified technical staff.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree / DIRECT / 6-8 OSHA 10/30-hour Construction Certificate preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, is required.
  • Minimum of three or more years of related practical experience with in the industry.
  • Experience in refineries or fertilizer (nitrogen, phosphate, potash) preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of related systems and components as well as constructability requirements for this type of environment.
  • Ability to lead capital projects through the design, bid, build process.
  • Ability to walk down systems, assess field conditions, determine pipe routing, tie points and offer practical engineering solutions for refinery or chemical plant projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to interpret client needs and offer practical solutions.
  • Ability to coach and mentor others with regard to refinery or fertilizer plant projects and processes.
